Accessibility Statement

OSPRE Nigeria is committed to ensuring its digital services are accessible to all users, including those with disabilities.

Our Commitment

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard across all pages and services on this Platform. Accessibility is not an afterthought — it is a design requirement for a platform serving all Nigerians, including those with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive disabilities.

  • Semantic HTML structure for screen reader compatibility
  • Keyboard navigability across all interactive elements
  • Sufficient colour contrast ratios meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards
  • Alt text for all meaningful images
  • Descriptive link labels and button text
  • Resizable text without loss of content or functionality
  • Focus indicators visible on all interactive elements
  • No content that flashes more than three times per second

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility compliance, we are aware of the following areas currently under improvement:

  • Some older PDF documents in our resource library may not be fully accessible — we are actively remediating these
  • Complex data visualisations in the early warning dashboard include text summaries but may not be fully accessible to all assistive technologies
  • Video content published prior to 2025 may lack captions — all new video content is captioned

Technical Information

This Platform is built using Next.js and follows modern semantic HTML standards. It has been tested with NVDA and VoiceOver screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, and automated accessibility scanning tools. We conduct accessibility audits at least once per quarter.

Report an Accessibility Issue

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on this Platform or need content in an alternative format, please contact us. We aim to respond to accessibility complaints within 5 business days.
